I am now 27 weeks pregnant & ending my second trimester this week. My belly continues to grow seemingly daily as I try to fathom what I will look like in 3 months at full term. This week, I got the results of my gestational diabetes test, which was good news (negative). However, the blood work did reveal that I have low iron levels. So I will need to either supplement with another vitamin or try to eat more iron-rich foods. No biggie, I suppose, just another thing to keep track of. I am feeling prettty good at this point. I did have one morning of unexpected vomiting this week on Wednesday- although, I think I might have gotten to school & rushed around too much and my body was just telling me to slow down. Other than that, I'm sleeping better and feeling surprisingly energetic considering I'm working all day & then either tutoring or doing basketball scorekeeping afterwards. Thursday, I met my
EC friend Alicia at the Liberty Diner for an early supper. Alicia and I both work in the same school district but hardly ever see each other. She is due with a baby girl on February 10th. I can't wait for us to have a play date this summer!! This weekend, Tasha & I had plans to head to the spa for another prenatal massage. Sadly, winter had
other plans- a snowstorm foiled our day of fun. Hopefully we can reschedule soon. A very snowy day gave John the chance to catch up on some much needed rest & I took the opportunity to have a phone date with Amanda. It is only about 4 more weeks until she & George will be here for another visit :) Sunday, with better weather we were able to get down to Middletown & pick up our dressing/changing table combo piece. We also had a very nice lunch at Friday's, compliments of John's basketball team. Perfect birthday gift for him girls!! When we got home, John got right to work & I was so excited to see our glider and our dresser/changing table assembled!! John is such a good sport for spending the better part of his weekend putting furniture together. I'm confident that he never wants to see another allen wrench as long as he lives. Thank you love.

We got our dresser using a nifty 20% off coupon & will purchase our crib after our shower with the registry completion coupon. Baby boy's room is really starting to come together....there's only one concern I have. I can't seem to keep my cat out of the bassinet! He thinks it is his own special bed. He sleeps in there at night & I will find him in there all snuggled up with the baby doll (used for doggie training purposes) randomly during the day.
Clearly, I'm going to have to thoroughly wash & disinfect the bassinet before we can have the baby sleep in it. Just don't know how to keep Riley out of there!!
In non-baby news, John's basketball team has been doing awesome. They were the feature of the Tuesday girls basketball page in the local paper (which was filled with inaccuracies as always). After two more wins this week, the girls are now 8-0 overall, 4-0 in the league. One more win & they've already earned a bid to sectionals. Not too shabby lady bears, not too shabby. The girls are shutting up a lot of people who claimed they were a 'one person show' last year & we couldn't be more proud of them!!
Finally, I need to give a shout out to my sister Eileen. Eileen has been on winter break from graduate school & has been spending practically all of her free time being the most amazing fur baby Aunt anyone could ask for. She has been coming over almost everyday to spend time snuggling & playing with Rox & Ry while we're both busy with work/basketball/tutoring/baby stuff. We are so lucky to have her around.
That's all for now- time to enjoy some football & prepare for another 5 day work week!
Love the glider and the dresser/changing table!! It's really starting to look like a nursery!!
ReplyDeleteThanks- we are getting sooo excited!! Can't wait for your visit :)
