spring teasers, spartacus, spaghetti, and yep- basketball.

Spring Teaser
Oh how cruel mother nature can be.  Yesterday was a balmy 60 degrees, sunny, with warm breezes and birds chirping.  Eileen and I spent the day in Middletown shopping, spa-ing, and running errands with the windows down.  Today?  35 degrees, snowing, and the wind is gusting.  UGH.  Roxy & I got out last night around 5 for a nice long walk.  The sun was setting in a gorgeous pink sky and I was so happy at the thought of an early spring.  So much for that.  I should have known.  It is still February.

Spartacus
John & I have started a new workout program.  We both had been talking for weeks about how unhappy we are that we've been inactive.  Basketball takes up so much of our, (especially his) free time and this year we haven't made enough effort to make time for ourselves and our health.  John asked a friend what he was doing (thank you ryan) and learned about this Spartacus workout.  My legs have never been so sore but I think it's exactly the kick in the pants we needed to get back into it.

Speaking of Basketball
Here's an update:  The regular season is over for the varsity girls and they finished a very successful 16-1, 8-0.  A division championship, and for Jakki, back to back division titles.  The lady bears are ranked 8th in the state for Class C.  We couldn't be more proud of the way these girls have pulled together as a team.  It makes all the time John & I spend apart from November to March worth it to see the girls totally buy into everything he's teaching them and be so successful.  (However, if I spend one more Valentine's Day in Seward, I might throw up).
Next up, sectionals!  The seeding meeting will take place on the 24th and we will most likely get a home game.  Let's keep it up, ladies.

In other basketball news, John & I went to Morgan's Bear Cub basketball game last night.  The shocked look on her face when we walked into the gym was priceless.  She is such an athletic kid and she is going to be a great basketball player.  I had a great time with Patty and chatting up little Macer.

And in final basketball news (yes there's always a lot of it), tonight is the game I've been waiting for alllll season- DonoCliff 2011.  Our coach friends Pat and Kevin will finally meet as the Sullivan West Lady Bull Dogs play the Manor-Roscoe Lady Wildcats.  Few things are more entertaining than watching Pat coach.  Maybe Kevin will be good for a few towel or clipboard throws.  Should be a great time :)

Spaghetti Benefit
Lastly, for anyone local, please consider heading to Hurleyville tonight for dinner.  A close friend of our family, Christina Robinson Frunzi, was recently diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome.  It's a rare and terrible disease in which the body's immune system attacks the nervous system and results in nerve damage, muscle weakness, and paralysis.  There is a spaghetti dinner benefit tonight to raise money for Chrissy and her family as they fight this disease.  The benefit starts at 4pm at the Hurleyville Firehouse, $10 a plate.

I'm off to enjoy the remaining 4 days of my 5 day weekend :)
