2010...A recap.

2010.  What comes next?  It seems hard to imagine it being 2011 or 20-anything-teen.  Wild.  It's been a year of ups and downs, but luckily for us and our families, it's been mostly ups.

Here are some highlights in no particular order.

~*~We went on enough vacations to make Chevy Chase jealous....Trips to coastal Maine, Florida, and Outer Banks made our summer fly but also gave us countless memories that we'll cherish forever.  Looking ahead to this summer, I'm probably planning on working so the trips will probably be kept to a minimum.  I'm hoping for a trip or two to Maine though :)

Cocktails in the Grand Ceremonial House, Polynesian Resort
Walt Disney World

Corolla Beach, NC

~*~We bought a new whip.  A 2010 Hyundai Veracruz.  I love this car.  It's roomy and seats 7 with lots of great features like AWD, heated seats, blue tooth (which I have no idea how to use), xm radio, and even a blue "mood" light.  A good investment and we plan on it lasting us for several years.

~*~I started a new job at Liberty Middle School.  I'm incredibly lucky to have an amazing boss and am finally getting my CFY done.  I love the kids and love having 3 other SLPs in the district to go to for support.  Here's hoping I get to stay :)

~*~Riley turned 5 and Roxy turned 3.  My little babies are getting so old!  They continue to make us laugh and give us so much love.  I don't take one day with them for granted.  Nothing makes me happier than walking with Roxy or snoozing with Riley.  Yep, they're the best!

~*~Amanda & George got engaged!  In Maine!  And we were there to celebrate!  (This would make a top ten of the decade.)

~*~Natalie Iris was born to Mike & Hilary in March and we got to meet her in July.  This kid is the cooooolest you'll ever meet.  I'm getting to follow her developmental milestones and curious endeavors via blog-o-sphere and am looking forward to our next trip to Maine when I can give her some real-life squeezes.

~*~We celebrated our first wedding anniversary.  We were lucky enough to be in Daytona Beach, where we had honeymooned.  It was a special day.

~*~Emma Lynne Eick turned 2 and has effectively stolen our hearts and our ability to say "no."

~*~We got to spend time with my grandparents over the summer and another Christmas with John's grandfather.  We don't take any time for granted.

~*~John finished his first season of coaching girls basketball in February undefeated with the JV team.  Then in December started coaching his first ever Varsity team.  The girls have been working hard and are off to a great start (3-0).  John loves the game and is a great coach.  Although I miss him terribly when he's at practice every night and Saturday mornings, I know how much it means to him and I'm really proud of him.

~*~We had our first experience attempting to sell a home.  We definitely learned a lot; and though we were unsuccessful, after looking at several places we realized how nice we have it here in our home.  It may be small and not in our favorite town in sullivan county; but it's just fine for us at this point in our lives.  We will wait out the market for a little while and see what happens in the future.  For now, we're happy where we are.

Farewell 2010!!

Upcoming in 2011:  Two more months of basketball, A trip to Myrtle Beach with the Tenbus' in April, THREE weddings- Andre & Amy and Amanda & George get married in September- and Kayla & Chris in October.
